The Open Compute Project has released revision 0.3.0 of its Solid-State Transformer (SST) specification, effective 22 June 2026 and contributed by Google, Microsoft and NVIDIA under a Modified OWFA 0.9 licence. The document defines a medium-voltage SST as a megawatt-class power-electronic converter that replaces the line-frequency transformer, rectifier and energy-storage stages, feeding a nominal 800Vdc single-pole LVDC distribution rail for IT racks. Two SKUs are specified: SKU A at 13.8kVac 3-phase 3-wire + PE with 5MW output, and SKU B at 34.5kVac with 5MW or 10MW options. Electrical requirements include input power factor above 0.99 at full load, ±1% static output tolerance, 120% overload for 5s, bus capacitance up to 10mF per 4MW, ≥98% conversion efficiency and Modbus TCP/IP communications. The framework targets SiC/GaN power electronics and a multi-vendor supply ecosystem.
