Lelon LSG 500V 1200µF Capacitor Lands on the PFC Bus of a 3kW GaN Server PSU
2026-10-13 · Compiled by Best IT Parts from public industry reporting
The high-voltage DC bus of a 3000W GaN server power supply is filtered and buffered by a Lelon LSG series aluminum electrolytic capacitor rated 1200µF at 500V. The unit, model TET3000-12-069RA, accepts 100-277V AC and 240-380V DC input and delivers a 12.3V main output at 244A, for a maximum output of 3000W with 80 PLUS Titanium efficiency. It adopts a totem-pole PFC architecture that places GaN devices in the fast switching leg, and also supports hot-swap operation and PMBus communication.
In AC input mode the front-end PFC boosts the rectified line and establishes the high-voltage DC bus, which the downstream stage then isolates and steps down. The Lelon capacitor sits at that node. Its first role is filtering: it smooths the ripple left on the bus after the PFC boost, giving the following LLC converter a steadier DC input. Its second role is energy storage and transient buffering.
When the server load changes quickly and the upstream PFC has not yet fully responded, the capacitor briefly releases stored energy to limit bus voltage variation. The 1200µF capacity provides meaningful stored energy on a 3000W platform, while the 500V rating covers the bus and leaves margin for line variation, including operation at up to 380V DC input. The LSG series uses a plug-in structure, is rated for 105°C operation and carries a 2000-hour life specification for high-voltage DC bus use. For 3kW-class data center supplies, the bus capacitor remains a key energy-buffering node between the two power-conversion stages.
