A teardown of FSP's FSP2000-20FM, a 2000W 80 PLUS Platinum server power supply in the CRPS185 form factor, shows 16 Toshiba TPH1R306PL power MOSFETs on the low-voltage side. The unit accepts 100-127V and 200-240V AC as well as 240V DC input, and reaches its full 2000W rating with a 12V/163.6A main rail on 220-240V AC or 240V DC. Internally it follows a PFC plus phase-shifted full bridge plus synchronous rectification chain: the PFC stage performs boost and power-factor correction, the full bridge handles isolated conversion, and the secondary SR stage produces the 12V high-current output.
Because the main transformer secondary is delivering more than 160A, FSP gives it a dedicated synchronous rectifier daughterboard rather than routing that current through the main board. The board carries the 16 Toshiba TPH1R306PL devices together with Infineon 1EDN8511B gate drivers. The TPH1R306PL is a 60V N-channel MOSFET with a typical on-resistance of just 1mOhm in the SOP Advance surface-mount package. At 12V and 2000W, conduction loss in this stage scales with current squared, so spreading the load across 16 low-resistance devices lowers per-device loss and thermal stress, while the SOP Advance footprint keeps the power board layout compact.
The case is a reminder that component upgrades in server supplies are not confined to the high-voltage side. As platforms move toward 2kW and beyond, the 12V (and increasingly 48V) rails put equal pressure on MOSFET on-resistance, package thermal performance and paralleling strategy. Milliohm-class devices such as the TPH1R306PL are becoming a baseline building block for the rectification stage of high-power server PSUs, where efficiency headroom now has to be found inside a very tight CRPS185 envelope.
