Anker Zolo 55W 20000mAh Teardown: Dual SOUTHCHIP Buck-Boost Paths and CHIPSEA BMS

2026-10-04 ยท Compiled by Best IT Parts from public industry reporting

Anker's Zolo A110W is a 20000mAh (74Wh, 7.4V two-series-cell) power bank with a 55W total output, one of the first units to carry the 2026 Chinese national-standard 3C certification. It exposes three USB-C ports and one USB-A port (3C1A): the two built-in braided USB-C cables and the third USB-C port each run up to 55W, while the USB-A port is rated 33W. USB-C input is capped at 45W (20V 2.25A). Protocol support covers PD3.0, UFCS 1.2, QC3.0, FCP, SCP, AFC, DCP, Apple 2.4A and Xiaomi's 55W turbo protocol, with fixed PDOs up to 20V and PPS ranges up to 3.6-20V. Measured size is 121.60 by 74.16 by 33.04mm at 396.9g, and each built-in cable measures about 14.5cm. The C2 cable carries a Hynetek HUSB332D E-Marker rated for 240W; the C1 cable has none.

Inside, the unit uses a two-layer PCBA plus a separate BMS board linked by FPC, with graphite thermal pads bonded to the housing. The pack is built from two LIWINON C16280 cells, 10000mAh and 37.00Wh each at 3.7V nominal, wired in series.

Conversion runs on two independent buck-boost paths, each built around a SOUTHCHIP SC1815A synchronous buck-boost controller in QFN32 and four LEADTECK LT7427FLQ 30V NMOS switches (5.1mohm, PDFN3x3). VBUS switching uses a LEADTECK LT3818FPXQ on C1 and LTS3614FAHBQ (30V, 4.4mohm, TDFN3.3x3.3) on C2 and C3, plus an LT4801FPGQ dual PMOS for the USB-A rail. Protocol handling is a SOUTHCHIP SC2006A, a three-port Type-C DRP controller that integrates Type-C/PD and UFCS/DPDM, an 11-bit ADC, two 11-bit DACs, NMOS gate drivers, I2C and a 32-bit core with 128KB flash and 8KB SRAM. Housekeeping falls to a CHIPSEA CS32F10CBW6 Cortex-M3 MCU (72MHz, 128KB flash, 20KB SRAM, QFN48) and a CHIPSEA CBM8570 two-cell protection and gauging IC with up to 20mA cell balancing and SHA-1/SHA-256 authentication.
