3200W Titanium CRPS Server PSU Parallels Three 16V 2700µF Nichicon Caps on a 12.2V/262.3A Rail

A teardown of a 3,200 W 80 PLUS Titanium server power supply, model AH-CRPS3200A1A, shows the main 12.2 V output filter built from three paralleled 16 V 2,700 µF Nichicon electrolytic capacitors, forming a nominal 8,100 µF bank. The unit accepts 100–240 VAC and 240 VDC high-voltage DC input; at 220–240 VAC or 240 VDC it delivers 12.2 V at up to 262.3 A (3,200 W) on the main rail, plus a 12 V/2.1 A standby output.
The conversion chain is a dual-switch bridgeless PFC front end, a full-bridge LLC stage and synchronous rectification, rated 80 PLUS Titanium and equipped with PMBus telemetry. The supply uses the standard CRPS form factor, relies on active air cooling and feeds the server system through a gold-finger card-edge connector.
Inside, the main transformer, the synchronous-rectification daughterboard and the output filter network sit on the right-hand side of the PCB assembly. Even after LLC step-down and synchronous rectification, the 12.2 V rail still carries high-frequency ripple, so the capacitor bank works with the output inductor to smooth the voltage. Paralleling three cans lowers the bank's equivalent series resistance, splits ripple current between the parts and provides the stored energy that is released or absorbed during fast load steps — a practical requirement at 262.3 A. Three smaller cans also fit the tight CRPS envelope more easily than a single large case size.
For buyers, the design point is component commonality: 16 V/2,700 µF is a widely available radial can, and three-way paralleling leaves headroom if one part drifts.
